Heralded measures AI answers without any connection. Connections add what it can’t see from outside, and let it do some work for you. Set them up on the Connections settings pages. Search Console, Google Analytics and Slack are usually authorized once for the whole workspace, on the workspace’s Connections page, and each brand then picks its own property or channel on its brand Connections page. A brand can use its own account instead with Connect your own account, and someone with access to a single brand always connects that way. The sitemap and WordPress belong to a brand. Each connection’s pane follows the same structure as this page: what it does, what it unlocks, what it reads and writes, what you need before you connect, the steps, when data arrives, its limits and what happens when you remove it. The Available count matches the listed connections. Coming soon connections are separate. Choose what Heralded may do on its own in Autonomy. Connected rows and panes show the property, channel or zone name saved when you choose it. The workspace’s board shows the same name beside each brand. If a connection has no saved name, it shows the property’s ID.

Google Search Console

Reads your search performance from one verified Search Console property. Unlocks. Search clicks on each topic in Content and in each page’s pane, which also opens from Website. Topics whose pages Google sends buyers to but AI never quotes are marked Ranks in search, not cited on Content. Searches that no page of yours answers become Missing topics there. The searches that bring people to your site become prompt suggestions. Access. Reads queries, pages, clicks, impressions and position for the property your brand uses, over 28 days. It writes nothing. The access is read-only. Before you connect. You need owner, full user or restricted user access to a verified Search Console property that covers your domain. Steps.
  1. Press Connect and sign in to Google with an account that has the property.
  2. Allow read-only access to Search Console.
  3. If several properties cover your domain, select one and press Use this property.
When data arrives. With the next weekly report. Limits. Heralded reads the top 200 pages by clicks. The 28 days end three days before the report, because Google finalizes search data late. After removal. Heralded’s access is revoked and pulling stops. Search clicks leave Content and Website, and past weekly reports keep their numbers.

Google Analytics

Reads the visits AI assistants send to your site from one Google Analytics property. Until Google approves Heralded’s access to Analytics, it is listed under Coming soon. Unlocks. Visits from AI on each topic in Content and in each page’s pane, beside its citations. Access. Reads sessions by landing page and source for the property your brand uses, over 28 days. It writes nothing. The access is read-only. Before you connect. You need Viewer access to the Google Analytics property that records your domain. Steps.
  1. Press Connect and sign in to Google with an account that has the property.
  2. Allow read-only access to Analytics.
  3. If several properties record your domain, select one and press Use this property.
When data arrives. With the next weekly report. Limits. Heralded counts a session when its source is a known AI assistant or its medium is Google’s ai-assistant channel. For an unlisted source in that channel, Heralded names the source by its host. The count is a floor, because many AI apps strip the referrer and their visits count as direct. Only visits to your brand’s own domain and its www. address are counted. If the report includes another host, Heralded withholds its counts because Google Analytics does not identify which host a session landed on. After removal. Heralded’s access is revoked and pulling stops. Visits from AI leave Content, and past weekly reports keep their numbers.

Cloudflare

Counts crawler requests through Cloudflare, including cached pages and requests blocked before they reach your site. It reads zone analytics and writes nothing. Choosing a zone starts a 30-day backfill, then counts update daily. Counts on very busy zones are estimates. See Connect Cloudflare for setup, verification and disconnecting.

Sitemap

Finds your site’s pages from its sitemap. It is a public file, so there is nothing to authorize, connect or remove. Unlocks. The Sitemap check among the site checks on Website. Access. Reads your public sitemap, and robots.txt to find it. Writes nothing. When data arrives. The connected row says Checked every week. Heralded checks your sitemap with each weekly report. Each weekly report combines the sitemaps your robots.txt declares and reads one level of child sitemaps in an index. It tries /sitemap.xml only when robots.txt declares none. An index is usable only when a child sitemap supplies pages. If a read reaches a file or size limit before it can tell, the sitemap stays unmeasured. When the latest weekly report finds no usable sitemap, the Sitemap row shows Add URL. Brand editors can open it, enter the Sitemap URL and choose Save sitemap URL; once a URL is saved the row shows Edit URL, and clearing the field and choosing Clear sitemap URL removes it. The next weekly report tries the saved URL only if discovery still finds nothing. Saving or clearing it does not change the last report’s status, so the row keeps asking until a report finds a sitemap. Viewers see the row but not the form.

WordPress

Lets Heralded apply site fixes and count AI crawler visits, through the Heralded Connector plugin. Unlocks. Fixes from Actions: robots.txt rules for AI crawlers and your homepage’s structured data, applied and read back to check they landed. Autonomy sets what Heralded may do without asking. Crawler visits show as AI crawls on Website pages. Access. Writes only the robots.txt rules Heralded owns, and JSON-LD on posts and the homepage. Reads site health, the WordPress, PHP and plugin versions, and crawler counts. The connection pane shows the installed plugin version from the last health check. Before you connect. You need WordPress admin access, an https site, WordPress 6.9 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. Steps.
  1. Download the plugin from the connection pane.
  2. In WordPress admin, open Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin, upload the ZIP and activate it.
  3. Open Settings › Heralded Connector and generate a token.
  4. Press Connect, then paste the site address and token.
When data arrives. Connecting checks the site and sends the plugin Heralded’s crawler list. Crawl counts start the next day. Limits.
  • Crawl counts are a floor. The plugin counts a request only when WordPress runs it. A page cache or CDN that answers a crawler first hides that request from the plugin.
  • A static robots.txt file wins. A robots.txt file on the server overrides the plugin’s rules.
  • A fix has no revert. Heralded can’t take back a fix it applied. To undo one, change it in WordPress.
After removal. The token is revoked and this brand’s Website autonomy settings reset. Applied fixes stay on your site.

Slack

Posts each weekly report’s headline and what moved to one channel per brand. Unlocks. Your weekly report in the channel your team reads. Access. Writes messages to the channel each brand picks. Reads channel names, public and private, so you can pick one. It reads no messages. Before you connect. You need permission to install apps in the Slack workspace. For a private channel, invite @Heralded to it first. Steps.
  1. Press Connect and sign in to the Slack workspace.
  2. Allow Heralded to post and to list channels.
  3. Select the channel this brand’s reports go to, then press Use this channel. For a private channel, invite @Heralded first.
When data arrives. The first post goes out when the brand’s next weekly report lands, on its weekly report day. Limits. One channel per brand. Only the weekly report posts; daily updates do not. After removal. Heralded’s access is revoked and posting stops. Messages already posted stay in Slack.

When a connection fails

If you cancel on Google’s or Slack’s screen, or connecting fails there, Heralded sends you back to the page you started from and says why. Nothing is connected. Check connection in a connection’s pane asks the provider whether the connection still works. It doesn’t read new data. When a WordPress site fails, at connect or at a later check, Heralded names the cause and its fix: the plugin isn’t installed or active, the site redirected to another address, the site refused the token, the plugin is out of date, the site answered with a server error, Heralded couldn’t reach the site, or the site’s HTTPS certificate was refused.

AI assistants

Read your Heralded data from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code or any MCP client. Each member connects their own assistant by signing in from the assistant, and the workspace’s Connections page lists the assistants connected. See Connect an AI assistant.
