# Get started

> Set up your first brand, read your first report, and know what to do in your first week.

[Start your free 7-day trial](https://app.heralded.ai/signup) with no card needed. Verify your email to start a Core monthly trial and open setup. Starting from the email field on [heralded.ai](https://heralded.ai) sends the verification email to that address straight away. A link from [heralded.ai/pricing](https://heralded.ai/pricing) starts the trial on the plan it names. You choose your paid plan when you add a card. If your organization has already used its [trial](/concepts/usage#trials), Heralded offers the plan chooser instead.

If a requested trial has already been used, Heralded asks you to choose a plan. If a trial or checkout cannot start on our side, nothing is charged. Try again in a few minutes or write to [hello@heralded.ai](mailto:hello@heralded.ai).

We'll email you before your trial ends. Without a card at the end, your brand locks and everything is kept. A founding-offer link starts the same free trial. Claim the offer when you add a card. Setting up a brand takes three steps, about five minutes, and your first report starts as soon as you finish.

During setup, the header shows the Heralded logo and your account menu, with **Sign out**. If your organization is trialling, the date your trial ends appears above the three steps.

## 1. Your site

Enter your website. Heralded reads your pages and drafts your brand profile, with your **Brand name**, **Category**, **Buyer** and **Offering**, and lists the competitors it found under **Rivals**. Check each one and fix anything wrong, because answers are judged against this profile. You can add what sets you apart later, under **Identity** in your [brand settings](/concepts/workspaces-and-brands#settings).

Add **Other spellings** that count as mentions of your brand. Each drafted field names its source, such as "From your homepage" or "From /pricing". **Your domains** shows your main website first. Under **Other websites you own**, confirm any other sites you own.

If Heralded links an existing Snapshot, this step names its domain and date. Its prompts start ticked on the next step.

**Market** and **Language** set your Default [segment](/concepts/segments)'s market and language. Heralded fills in the country it detects. Choose **Global** to measure without a country.

## 2. Prompts

Heralded suggests [prompts](/concepts/prompts) from your site and market. The screen is titled **What your buyers ask AI**. Heralded tracks these questions every day. Tick the ones your buyers would really ask, and add your own with **+ Add a question**. Each ticked prompt uses a [prompt slot](/concepts/usage#prompts), and un-ticking one frees it.

Favour category questions that don't name you, such as "best accounting software for small agencies". Those are what your figures measure. [Choosing prompts](/concepts/prompts#choosing-prompts) has more.

**Rivals named** lists up to three rivals named by the suggested topic. These suggestions appear first. If suggestions fail to load, choose **Try again**.

## 3. First report

The Answers list shows five prompts per page. Use the page controls to see the rest.

Confirming your prompts starts the first report. The Herald asks your prompts of the engines read every day (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, plus Claude if you have it), and the answers appear on screen as they arrive. Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot answer from their first [twice-weekly read](/concepts/engines). You can leave. Heralded emails you as soon as it lands.

Your first report uses the [Snapshot's deadline and partial-report window](/concepts/snapshot). It opens on the answers received, within 30 minutes plus scoring time. The first-report screen and Home name engines with missing answers. Late answers keep filling in until the report is final. Answers still missing then are not measured and do not count against you. Daily updates and later weekly reports wait for their cells.

The score ring is labelled **Heralded Score** and shows a number out of 100, without a percent sign. It measures the answers received so far. [The Heralded Score](/methodology/heralded-score) explains the scale. It stays empty until the score can be measured. Returning to the screen shows the stored figure, and the completed report shows the same score as Home. Engine icons have names you can find with a screen reader or by hovering. The main button says **Ready when the report lands** until the report finishes, then **Meet your team**, which opens Home.

## Your first report

When the first report lands, the Herald opens it in its conversation the first time you visit. Its **Start** buttons let you begin suggested tasks.

Home shows your [Heralded Score](/methodology/heralded-score) with **Mentioned**, **Recommended**, **Understood** and **Praised**, then **Things to do**, the work that needs you. **One-time setup** follows when there are setup cards to show.

A first report has nothing to compare with, so **Changes**, **Since you started** and **Paying off** appear with the second report. The pages on the rail hold the detail. [How Heralded works](/how-heralded-works#the-pages) lists what each page answers.

## Your first week

After the first read, a [daily update](/concepts/daily-updates-and-weekly-reports) asks the engines every day.

Invite your team from the workspace's **Members** page. [Members and roles](/concepts/workspaces-and-brands#members-and-roles) explains what each role can do.

Seven days after you confirmed your prompts, or on the Monday after if that is a weekend day, [your first weekly report](/first-weekly-report) lands.

Home shows **One-time setup** from your first report. Connect [Search Console](/concepts/connections#google-search-console) so suggestions come from real searches. If the crawl shows your site runs [WordPress](/concepts/connections#wordpress), connect it so Heralded can apply site fixes.

**Add more prompts** appears after your first weekly report, with new suggestions from your first report in **Discover** on the [Prompts](/concepts/prompts#the-prompts-page) page.

Depending on your brand and plan, setup also includes:

* adding a [segment](/concepts/segments) for another market or language, on plans with more than one;
* choosing what Heralded may do in [Autonomy](/concepts/autonomy), once you have approved some work.

Each open item links to the page where you finish it. Choose **Not for me** on Home if you do not need an item. Once the request succeeds, it leaves the block and the setup total. If the request fails, the item stays with a message. Finished items stay marked with a check and a struck title.

Return to **Home** to see your remaining setup steps.

You can also find these items in **Actions**, under the **Setup** kind. Choose **Restore** on a dismissed item's card in the **Done** column to bring it back.

Each item finishes when its setting or connection is in place. Once every remaining item is finished, Home shows **Setup complete** once for each member.

## How you found Heralded

Heralded keeps the first campaign information it receives for your account, including campaign tags and advertising click IDs, the referring host, the landing path and the arrival time. Later visits do not replace it. A Snapshot you start before signing in keeps that information until you sign in. Subscription checkout copies it to Stripe, and account erasure clears Heralded's stored copy. The app uses your tab's session storage to carry the information between pages, without an attribution cookie. Sign-in links carry the information so opening one in a new tab preserves it.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a banner asks whether Heralded can measure its ads when your arrival URL has a Google advertising click ID and you have not chosen yet. Visits without a click ID, including visits with campaign tags only, show no banner. A signed-in account with a recorded choice is not asked again. Advertising click IDs wait in memory for your acceptance. Declining or leaving without answering drops them. The banner remembers your choice in the shared `hd_consent` cookie on heralded.ai and app.heralded.ai for one year. **Cookie settings** in the footer reopens it. Outside those countries, ad measurement is enabled by default unless your browser sends Global Privacy Control or you decline in the banner. If Heralded cannot determine your country, the same click-ID condition applies.

Ad measurement lets Heralded share your advertising click IDs and a SHA-256 hash of your email with Google to measure Snapshot sign-ups, trial starts and first payments. A first payment includes its amount and currency. This permission does not include ad personalization. The sign-in checkbox is only for tips emails and Snapshot updates. You can change these choices separately in account settings under **Product updates** and **Ad measurement**. Declining blocks no product feature. Withdrawing ad measurement consent stops future uploads.
