# Content

> Topics your buyers ask about, your page for each, and what to do next.

**Content** shows whether what you have written answers what buyers ask. Each topic has your page for it, its status and an action. Open Content from the rail. On a phone, open the navigation menu to see it. The full list of crawled pages and their technical checks is on [Website](/concepts/site-readability).

The sentence above the filters describes all your topics. Until your first weekly report finds any, it says **Topics appear after your first weekly report**. **Topics covered**, **Topics cited** and **Missing** follow the filters, including Status. **Visits from AI** appears with a Google Analytics connection. Search narrows the table without changing the cards.

Under **Topics covered** and **Topics cited**, a line compares the period with the previous period of the same length: up, down, or **Steady** when the change is within normal variation. No line shows when there is no comparable previous period.

## Topics

| Status | Means | Action |
| - | - | - |
| Missing | No page of yours covers the topic. | Write this |
| Cited | Your page is cited at least once in the selected period. | None |
| Falls short | Your page fails Answers its topic or Substance. | Rewrite |
| Ranks in search, not cited | Your page has Search Console clicks over the last 28 days, with no citation in the selected period. | Rewrite |
| Not cited | Your page passes both content checks, with no citation in the selected period. | Rewrite |

These rules apply in the order shown. A cited page stays **Cited** even if its content checks fail.

A topic is not **Missing** while an AI answer to its question cites one of your pages that Heralded could not read, or while its site search is not checked. Before proposing a new piece, Heralded searches your site for up to five unresolved topics per weekly report, highest demand first. A page that answers the question becomes a rewrite candidate or needs no new work. A failed or skipped search leaves the topic unchecked. Successful checks last four weeks and clear when your page changes or you publish a piece on the topic.

With [Search Console](/concepts/connections#google-search-console) connected, a search your site appears for also becomes a **Missing** topic when you track no prompt for it and no page of yours answers it. Heralded judges your pages' text for these as it does for any topic. Each weekly report raises up to five, the searches with the most impressions, and gives the reason **From search: 14 clicks in 28 days**. These topics skip the site search above.

The table starts with the highest **Demand**, the monthly demand for the topic. An unknown figure is a dash. Sort by a column, search topics or use the numbered pager to move through ten topics at a time. The Status sort puts problems first.

Keyword volume and difficulty for your content recommendations use your Default segment's market and language.

**Write this** orders a new piece. **Rewrite** orders a rewrite of the topic's page. Both use one content credit and open the piece's own page in [Content Studio](/concepts/actions#content-studio), under **Actions**. A topic with a piece in progress shows its stage instead of another order button. Members who cannot start work see no order button.

Rewrite needs the page's text. If nothing has read the page yet, Heralded tells you and places no order. No content credit is spent.

With credits, the topic's button says **Rewrite · 1 credit**. With none, members who can buy content credits see **Buy credits to rewrite**, which opens the content-credit pack dialog on the page.

## The topic pane

Open a topic to see your page and its three checks:

* **Answers its topic** shows how many buyer questions the page answers.
* **Substance** shows **Enough** or **Thin** with its word count.
* **Readable by AI** shows whether AI can read the page. If it cannot, **See in Website** opens the page's technical checks.

A missing topic shows that you have no page for it. A matched page stays visible even if it is not in the page inventory yet. Checks that have not been measured show a dash.

**Questions** counts the questions listed with their answered state. The content check can cover more questions than this list shows. The pane also shows tracked prompts with your score and trend. **Cited for this topic** lists the five sources cited most, with their citation counts and whether they name you or are yours. Open your page, a prompt or a source to see its pane. **Show answers** opens the answers for the topic under the same period and filters.

**All sources cited for this topic** opens the **Pages** tab on [Sources](/concepts/sources), filtered to that Content topic under the same period and shared filters. Switching to **Sites** keeps the topic filter.

The pane's scope line shows the period and engine. Its counts follow the page's filters.

## Periods and connections

**Latest**, **Last 4 weeks**, **Last 12 weeks** and **All time** select report populations, not calendar spans. A failed week can fold into the next report. Citations, prompts and sources follow the period, engine, type, intent, topic and segment filters. **Segment** appears when your brand has more than one segment. Counts include the daily updates each weekly report pooled. Reports across a change of engines, market or scoring are not pooled.

Each weekly report keeps the citations it counted, so a past period's count stays the same after its answers age out.

**Search clicks** appears with [Search Console](/concepts/connections#google-search-console). **Visits from AI** appears with [Google Analytics](/concepts/connections#google-analytics). Both describe the last 28 days, regardless of the citation period, and come from the newest weekly report in the period that read the property connected now. After you connect a different property, they stay empty until a report reads it. The pane shows clicks and the top query with Search Console, and visits from AI with Analytics.

Google Analytics counts sessions AI assistants send to a page over 28 days ending two days before that weekly report started. It includes Google Analytics' AI Assistant channel and known AI assistant sources. Landing pages omit query strings, so a page selected by a query such as `?p=123` stays unmeasured unless it has a measured path-only alias. A visit without a referrer counts as direct, and many visits from AI apps arrive that way. Treat **Visits from AI** as a floor. Figures appear after the first weekly report that reads the connection.

The shared page pane also shows the [Website page funnel](/concepts/site-readability#website-in-the-command-center), with its own stated window. These five figures use the newest pinned weekly report, independently of the citation period and filters. The report keeps crawler counts, so opening a past report shows its recorded values. Known aliases and campaign parameters resolve to the same page when the report records visits and crawls.
